Celtic cable teapot cosy pattern for cozy teatimes

There's nothing better than a hot cuppa' anytime. For first thing in the morning, at elevenses, and always at three in the afternoon, here's a classic teapot cosy pattern that will brighten every teatime, a St. Patrick's Day celebration with it's Celtic Irish cables knit all the way around, or knits up a great house gift for your favorite tea-lover.

Cozy up with your knitting, some scones or cakes, enjoy this free pattern from an ancient pamphlet handed down long ago without a cover.  The teapot cozy fits a 5-6 cup teapot and can be lined as well.

The cozy pattern is knit flat with Irish fishermen's wool. I use less than a skein of Bartlett's wool from Maine. The 2-ply Fisherman works nicely and comes in a myriad of colors. Bartlett Yarns, spun right here in the USA, welcomes your telephone call to see if that special colorway is available. 207-683-2251 or email: sales@bartlettyarns.com

The needle sizes written here are UK sizes, whereby the 10 (3.25mm) is actually smaller than the 8 (4mm). I actually use a US 8 with the Bartlett Yarn to get the gauge (tension) of 5 sts to the inch. A US 7 can be used in place of the UK 10.

The teapot cozy pattern had a bit of errata when knitting the top, as I discovered, and have noted in handwriting on the free pattern below under Shape Top: "Row 7: (K5, K2tog) 6 times"

Enjoy this free pattern and happy sipping!
