Oversized cowl is perfect fall accessory

Northbound Knitting photo
"Ingot," an oversized cowl, promises to be your go-to favorite scarf for fall. The cowl pattern, written by Lisa Mutch of Northbound knitting and hand-dyed yarn fame, is a free pattern download. The yarns are exquisite and dyed to order in your preferred colorway.

This cowl project requires two skeins or 320 yards (293m) of DK weight yarn. Knit on a US 11 (8.0m) circular needle, the pattern is an easy one, two pattern rows, knit in three sections, with straight stockinette in the middle section.

Soft and luxurious, the Northbound Knitting DK yarn is merino and silk and offers a beautifully draped finished fabric, using an oversized needle and smaller gauge yarn. Gauge for this openwork pattern is 3 sts = 1 inch.

Kits are available for $56.00 at Northbound, but you'll have to be patient for the hand dyed yarn, available in nine colorways, or you can order a specific colorway from the many options. Northbound Knitting also offers a yarn club for October - December 2018 and has a group you can join on Ravelry for sneak previews.

The free cowl pattern is available here. Download it now in English or French. Knitnscribble will surely be knitting this lovely cowl for holiday gifts.

Thanks for reading, and as always, happy knitting!
