Cowl vest in three easy pieces

While searching for a vest pattern to knit for a grandson's golf outings, I found this fabulous easy pattern for women or men, worked in three easy pieces.

Cecilia of Sweden likes to be called "Cila," and says she's not a very good knitter and doesn't like difficult patterns. Well, low and behold, as simple as it is, this cowl neck vest pattern called "Lättstickad Tröja" (light-weight sweater) is a very useful addition to anyone's sweater collection, especially for the crisp days of autumn.

With bulky yarn and US 15 (10mm) straight needles, it's just amazing what one can knit!

This block-worked pattern is similar to Knitnscribble's 3-button shawl, another easy free pattern for knitter's at all levels, because the finished product is so useful.

For Cila's vest pattern, you cast on 47 stitches for each of the three parts and "knit to the length you want." She has knit the front for 35.5 in ( 90 cm), the back 47 in (120 cm), and the cowl neck 24 in (60 cm). If you want to knit a different size, the gauge is 10 sts = 4 inches.

You will find Cila's pattern schematic on her blog here with a visual for sewing up this charming cowl vest pattern. (For your language, scroll to the bottom of the blog and choose from Google translator.)

Cila's blog is very creative, inspirational for shopping, gardening, interior design, clean, fresh and functional, modern. I think you will enjoy it. Thank you for reading, and as always, happy knitting!
