Easy baby hat and booties patterns plus a little imagination

Just received a reminder for a charity baby shower knit-a-long, what a great idea! A free knitting pattern for boy or girl baby bootees so cute and simple even for beginners is my goal. One knitter has paired a free bootee pattern with a baby beanie pattern and added her own sweet touches. Just goes to show what a little imagination can do. Easy baby shower gift!

Here's the baby bootie pattern all done up with the baby hat. This savvy knitter from Great Britain has only been knitting a year it seems.

She's taken the free booties pattern and paired it with the beanie pattern and knit a lovely gift.

It looks as though, this knitter has either crocheted a chain using a bit of variegated yarn, or if knitting, cast on and cast off one long chain of yarn to make the cute little flower embellishment for the girls' baby hat.

The baby beanie pattern is here. Just disregard the instruction for stripes. Baby hat is knit with sport yarn, gauge is 22 stitches equals an inch. I'm thinking you could use a US 4 (3.5mm) to 5 (4mm) needle and sport yarn for both the hat and bootees.

The free booties pattern, Prisca's Baby Booties is by another British knitter, KnotSewPrisca, and you'll find the link here.
