Nakia's scarf knitting pattern from Black Panther, the movie

And now what everyone has been searching for: Nakia's scarf from the new Marvel film, Black Panther. A rarity for sure, in that, Nakia's shawl knitting pattern has been posted straight from the "horse's mouth,"  Jeff Gillies, who worked on costume design for the movie. The oversized wrap shawl uses four different yarns to achieve the brilliant fabric color and texture of the original. "Nakia's Infinity Scarf" by Jeff Gillies is a free pattern posted just this week.

The knitting designer, working with the film's costume designer for Black Panther, designed this pattern for machine knitting. The shawl uses one strand of Silk Garden, and two strands together of the fingering yarns from MadelineTosh and Malabrigo.

You will most likely want to knit it by hand, the gauge is 14 sts and 18 rows = 10 cm, 4 in. square. No needle size is offered, but I'm thinking a US 6 (4mm) or 7 (4.5mm) to get the gauge. There are charts to follow for the textured stitches and colorway changes.

The knitted shawl's finished measurement: width 23", length 86".
You can find Nakia's beautiful over-sized scarf free knitting pattern designed for the Black Panther movie by one clever knitter here.
