Knit your favorite fan a hat or scarf with ready-made NFL, MLB, NHL team logo charts and patterns. Download the color diagrams for knitting gifts for hockey, football, and other sports teams and then use a free hat pattern or scarf pattern. Hats and scarves knit flat work the best.
Although finished projects with team logo patterns and charts cannot be sold because of copyright registration, knit and crochet away for personal use only. Find the ready-made charts for Patriots, Giants, Yankees, Red Sox, Packers, Bears, Bruins, NJ Devils, Rangers, Flyers, Buffalo Bills, and Tampa Bay at knitnscribble here.
Here's how to create other knit and crochet team logo patterns from any team:
- Google your team logo image.
- Save a small team logo image less than 1 mb and slide it onto your desktop.
- Go to KnitPro, a graph generator, and choose which canvas you wish to use.
- Upload your team logo and click submit.
- Save the file and print out the chart.
- Next, choose the colors you wish to use and narrow the possibilities down to just two, three or four colors.
If you are knitting or crocheting a hat, center the stitches for the logo chart on a free hat pattern that is worked flat (on straight needles) or if you are an intermediate and above crafter, a hat worked in the round: easy free hat pattern.
Here's a free slouch hat pattern knit flat or in the round, just ignore the stripe color changes and insert your own.
The gauge of yarn you choose will depend on the pattern and the number of colors you select. More colors will require a smaller gauge. Choose a worsted, DK or sport gauge, especially for small items like hats, mittens, and scarves. Try to use stash yarn for the various colors, as a skein of each color can be expensive for one hat or scarf.
