The perfect big sister ticks all the boxes

Always wished I had had a popular big sister....life could have been... This big sister is a knitting pattern for one very trendy, long open cardigan sweater with a cute little notched collar. It's another perfect companion, published this month, and very popular with almost 3,000 likes on Ravelry. If you prefer a belted cardi version, add some loops and a belt and voila! an equally stylish wrap sweater complete with pockets.

I have been searching for just such a ready-made long sweater for a trip I'm planning to Scotland this summer. Yarn shops in Edinburgh and Glasgow are on the top of my list, and this "Big Sister" will be my new best friend.

The temperature in Scotland late July averages 64°F, so everyone needs a warm cardi or light jacket with convenient pockets for a measuring tape, a hanky, or phone. This cardigan knitting pattern ticks all those boxes. Knit with worsted yarn on a US 7 (4.5mm), the size range is generous, from XS to XXL. It's available in two versions, top down, all-in-one, which is a quicker knit, or a set-in sleeve, short row version both in German or English. Either version includes "options for slight waist shaping or more hip width."

"Big Sister" is a companion pattern to another long cardigan pattern, "Longinus," thoroughly tested and written by von Hinterm Stein.

I just purchased it for $6.85 USD, available on Ravelry €5.90.
